To get a view of the entire city, Ryan, Tanna, Gornal and I boarded a big red double decker bus. Yeah, baby! Perched on top, with seats in the direct sun beaming down scorching 90 degree rays, we slowly toured the city due to heavy traffic and kept things interesting by changing the language on the pre-recorded tour tape.
On foot, we visited the cathedral and we awed by the ornateness of it, climbed the 35 ramps of La Giralda and took in the 360 degree views of the city and strolled down various streets. For evening entertainment, we attended a flamenco show at El Arenal that claims the distinction as best flamenco in Sevilla according to the New York Times.
Sevilla factoids:
• Sevilla's catedral is the largest in the world in terms of volume, just beating St. Peter's in Rome and St. Paul's in London
• Columbus set out from here in 1492 on his journey where he discovered the new world
• For opera fans, can you name all of the operas set in Sevilla? There were 9: Carmen, The Barber of Seville, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Juan, Fidelio, La Fuerza del Destino, La Favorito, Conchita, Bodas en el Monasterio
